Stamp your PDFs with confidence
A "DRAFT" watermark on a proposal. A "CONFIDENTIAL" stamp on a legal document. Your company logo on every page of a report. Watermarks serve real purposes — marking document status, asserting ownership, and discouraging unauthorised distribution.
Paradise PDF adds text or image watermarks to PDF documents directly on your Mac. It's a native macOS application built with Rust and Swift that gives you precise control over watermark text, font, colour, position, rotation, and opacity. For image watermarks, you can use a logo or graphic with the same level of placement control.
There's no upload step, no server involved, and no waiting. You configure your watermark, apply it, and save the result in seconds.
How to add a watermark to a PDF on Mac
- Open Paradise PDF and select the Watermark tool from the sidebar.
- Add your PDF. Drag a file from Finder or click to browse.
- Choose watermark type. Select text watermark and type your text (e.g. "DRAFT", "CONFIDENTIAL", "SAMPLE"), or select image watermark and choose a logo or graphic file.
- Configure appearance. Set the position (centre, corner, or custom coordinates), opacity, rotation angle, and for text watermarks, the font and colour.
- Select which pages. Apply the watermark to all pages, a specific range, odd pages, even pages, or just the first page.
- Click Apply. Paradise PDF stamps the watermark onto each selected page and saves a new copy. Your original PDF remains untouched.
When you need to watermark PDFs on macOS
Marking drafts and review copies
Add a "DRAFT" or "FOR REVIEW ONLY" watermark to documents before circulating them. Recipients know at a glance that the content is not final, preventing premature distribution of unfinished work.
Protecting confidential documents
Stamp "CONFIDENTIAL" or "INTERNAL ONLY" across sensitive reports, financial statements, and HR documents. The watermark serves as a visual reminder that the document should not be shared externally.
Branding reports and proposals
Add your company logo as a subtle background watermark on proposals, white papers, and client deliverables. It reinforces your brand identity without cluttering the layout.
Deterring unauthorised copying
A visible watermark discourages recipients from passing off your work as their own. Photographers, designers, and publishers commonly watermark proofs before final delivery.
Legal and compliance marking
Some industries require specific markings on documents — "COPY", "ORIGINAL", or classification labels. Watermarking automates what would otherwise be a manual stamping process.
Key features of the PDF watermark tool
- Text watermarks: Type any text. Choose font, size, and colour. Set rotation for diagonal placement across the page.
- Image watermarks: Use a logo, stamp, or graphic as a watermark. Supports PNG, JPG, and other common image formats.
- Position control: Place watermarks at the centre, any corner, or at exact coordinates. Fine-tune placement for the look you want.
- Opacity control: Set transparency from barely visible to fully opaque. Find the right balance between visibility and readability.
- Rotation: Rotate watermarks to any angle. Diagonal text across the page is the classic watermark style.
- Page selection: Apply to all pages, specific ranges, odd/even pages, or just the first page.
- Non-destructive: Watermarking creates a new file. Your original document is never modified.
- Works offline: No internet connection needed. Watermark PDFs anywhere, anytime.
All processing happens on your Mac
Paradise PDF applies watermarks entirely on your local machine. No files are uploaded to any external server. No document content is transmitted, analysed, or stored anywhere outside your Mac.
This is critical for watermarking confidential or sensitive documents. When you stamp "CONFIDENTIAL" on a file, the last thing you want is that file passing through a third-party server to get there.
Better than online PDF watermark tools
Browser-based watermark tools require uploading your document to a third-party server. The irony of uploading a confidential document to the internet in order to stamp "CONFIDENTIAL" on it is not lost on anyone.
Preview.app on macOS has no watermark feature. You'd need to open each page in a graphics editor, add text, and re-export. For multi-page documents, this is impractical.
Adobe Acrobat has good watermarking tools, but it requires a subscription. If watermarking is an occasional need, the cost is hard to justify.
Paradise PDF gives you full watermark control on Mac with native speed, complete privacy, and a one-time purchase price. No subscriptions, no uploads, no workarounds.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add both text and image watermarks?
Yes. Paradise PDF supports text watermarks where you type your own text, and image watermarks where you use a logo or graphic. You can control size, position, opacity, and rotation for both types.
Can I control watermark opacity?
Yes. You can set the opacity from fully transparent to fully opaque. Most watermarks work best at 15–30% opacity so they are visible but don't obscure the document content.
Can I watermark specific pages only?
Yes. You can apply watermarks to all pages, a specific page range, odd pages only, even pages only, or just the first page. This gives you flexibility for cover pages, drafts, and other workflows.
Does watermarking modify the original PDF?
No. Paradise PDF creates a new watermarked copy. Your original document is never modified.
Are my documents uploaded during watermarking?
No. All watermarking happens locally on your Mac. Your documents never leave your computer. There is no server, no cloud processing, and no internet connection required.
